The ArchaeoVenturers Project flips the script on traditional archaeology. ArchaeoVenturers Katie Paul (‘The Digger’) and Justine Benanty (‘The Diver’) explore the challenges facing our history today and the people who are working to protect it.

The ArchaeoVenturers Project features a brief weekly online video series that highlights global #ArchaeoActivists and changes the way you think about global culture!

ArchaeoVenturers are more than just archaeologists. They’re anthropologists, scientists and advocates thinking outside of the box and outside of the dig, using activism, academia, and innovation for the protection of cultural heritage.

These renaissance women and men around the world venture beyond the boundaries of the excavation and work across fields to explore sites in the constantly changing global environment.

In the past six months, there has been a flood of articles and information highlighting the gender inequalities in sciences and other STEM programs.

The ArchaeoVenturers aim to showcase those women and men in archaeology, history, and science who are leading projects bigger than themselves. The ArchaeoVenturers Project features these individuals in their Wo(+Men) to Watch section.
