The Aztec Flower Wars

The Flower Wars were semi-ritualized battles waged between the Aztec Triple Alliance and neighboring city-states, conducted according to strict ceremonial conventions at sacred battlegrounds known as cuauhtlalli or yaotlalli. Much of what we know about these conflicts comes from the few surviving pre-Hispanic codices and from early colonial accounts recorded by the conquistadors.
